It's Time For A Lifestyle Check

Whenever we feel fatigued or suffer from an illness we often search for a cure without first understanding the cause. The truth is that lack of energy, unhealthy skin and almost all causes of serious illnesses point to one thing, a unhealthy lifestyle.

One of the principals to an Integral lifestyle is one that includes proper nutrition and exercise. A lifestyle that takes the time to listen to what the body needs based on an understanding of how the body works.

Diet

Like anything in life, what you put into it, is what you get out of it. So a good place to start a lifestyle check is to begin with your diet. Are you eating nutritious and healthy food that can help prolong your life and prevent diseases?

Science has now recognized that the The Pathogenesis Of Disease And Aging has everything to do with what we eat and how this affects us down to the cellular level. What we eat affects so much in our lives from our weight to our emotions.

When we eat nutritional foods, our body discards the poor quality foods a modern lifestyle leads too so the body can make room for nutrients it has been needing. The bottom line is:

 The better the food, the better the body can produce healthy cells.

When the body starts to eliminate previously retained proteinaceous waste, fat cells are broken down and toxins that were stored are released into the blood stream.

During this process, the body is able to "clean house" very efficiently and as a result, you could experience some uncomfortable symptoms. These unpleasant symptoms are the temporary results of Detoxification.

If you have eating habits have been more of the fast food quality, rather then whole foods, a detox program is a great place to start. 

Exercise

 Today's 21st century lifestyles are just not conducive to sufficient physical activity. The conveniences that make our lives easier are making us physically unfit. Feeling a little hungry? Drive up to any local fast food. Today there is a drive thru for everything from food to prescriptions. Our work schedules have become longer and we find ourselves in sedentary working environments

In terms of a healthy lifestyle, diet combined with exercise yields a more positive result than either one does on its own.

Take a good look at your lifestyle and establish practical ways you can bring more activity into your daily routine.

Sleep

Because of our relentless pursuit of career and commitments we often find ourselves depriving our body of much needed sleep. Sleep is our bodies way of regaining it's strength from the energy loss of our daily activities.

In addition to physical needs, the mind needs time to sleep in order to process the days events. Every day your mind is taking in trillions of bits of information. In order to cope with this information overload, our mind filters through what is needed, and leaves the rest unprocessed. At night when we sleep, we enter deep states of consciousness where our mind 'defrags' as it were the yet unprocessed information. We experience this process as dreams, as our minds needs to release the stored information from the subconscious. When we deprive ourselves of sleep, we increase our stress levels as our mental thresholds begin to become overwhelmed.

Recent studies have shown that 65% of Americans' are losing sleep because of stress. Sleep deprivation can lead to unhappy relationships due to fatigue and loss of productivity at the workplace for lack of energy and concentration. Here are just a few effects of lack of sleep.

 

Fatigue
Irritability
Careless mistakes
Difficulty concentrating
Slower reaction times
Increased stress

A weakened immune system
Diabetes (the body cannot process sugar properly)

High blood pressure
Obesity
 

Quit Smoking

 Research has shown that smoking reduces life expectancy by seven to eight years. The fact is, smoking is one of the most unhealthy things you can do to abuse your body.
